Dupont (France) A 25-year-old photographer for Napoleon III, Simon Tissot-Dupont had a keen aesthetic sense and a vision to design exclusive travel trunks with a unique style for Paris's upper class. A glorious history began with this young man: Simon Tissot-Dupont. In 1872, he established a workshop specializing in travel bags and leather goods on Rue Dieu in Paris, where he crafted a variety of trunks for the upper class.
His works, beloved by the royal family and quickly becoming favorites of the aristocracy, became the standard for the global upper class, with Dupont serving as the official supplier to Les Grands Magasins du Louvre (Louvre department store), the world's largest retailer at the time. In 1919, his sons, Lucien and Andr? , took over the company, relocating it to the current site of Dupont's workshops, on the shores of a beautiful lake at the foot of the Alps, boasting one of the clearest waters in Europe.
The company continued to grow steadily, developing groundbreaking leather tanning techniques. Under the umbrella of Cartier, Dupont's motto of "more beautiful, more expensive, more innovative" expanded its customer base, attracting Hollywood actors such as Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, and rose to become one of the world's top brands. In 1973, the company released its first luxury ballpoint pen by special order. Since then, Dupont has announced many famous collaborations with James Bond 007 (UK), Andy Warhol (USA), and Karl Lagerfeld (Germany), and has established itself as a writing instrument brand, following on from its leather goods and smoking accessories.
It has now been selected as a national gift and in 2013 was awarded the prestigious title of Intangible Cultural Heritage Company of France, continuing to grow. Dupont continues to produce beautiful, luxurious writing instruments that bring joy to their owners. Only the pen itself is included. International Buyers - Please Note.
