In 1872, a workshop for travel bags and leather products was established on Rue Dieu in Paris. Various trunks were made for the upper class of society.

His works, beloved by the royal family and quickly becoming favorite items of the aristocracy, became the standard for the upper class around the world, including being treated as an official supplier to Les Grands Magasins du Louvre (Louvre Department Store), the world's largest retailer at the time. In 1919, the company was taken over by his two sons, Lucien and André, and moved to the current site of Dupont's workshop, the shores of a beautiful lake at the foot of the Alps, boasting the clearest water in Europe, and continued to grow steadily, developing a groundbreaking method of tanning leather.
